Susanne Pomerance

Susanne Pomerance is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in drawing and painting. Working primarily with line, she observes everyday landscapes and natural environments, transforming careful observation into quiet, rhythmic compositions that reflect the passage of time, light, and movement.

After studying German literature, art history, and philosophy in Münster and Berlin, she went on to study Fine Arts at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel under Peter Nagel. Since 2000, she has worked as an independent artist, while also initiating educational and community-based art projects. Her work has been exhibited throughout Germany and abroad.

Pomerance’s artistic process begins with prolonged on-site observation and drawing. Whether depicting urban spaces or the subtle vegetation of roadsides, she is interested in the unnoticed details of everyday surroundings. Based in Görlitz since 2021, she continues to explore the changing rhythms of landscape, particularly at dawn and dusk, when light quietly transforms the familiar.

Susanne, as part of the aufZEICHNUNG section, will create live drawings documenting selected performances.
