Dr. Lothar Quinkenstein, born in 1967, studied German Studies and Ethnology in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. He lived in Poland from 1994 to 2011. He is a translator of Polish literature (including works by Olga Tokarczuk), a writer, and a cultural mediator. His awards include the Karl Dedecius Prize (2024) and the Usedom Translation Prize (shared with Lisa Palmes). Most recently published: Am Tag zuvor, am Tag danach. Essays und Erinnerungen (2024).

About the Forum
We live according to schedules, rushing through our days at breakneck speed and often feeling as though we are chasing after ourselves. How do we experience the passing of time? Was there once an “other,” gentler kind of time? And what role does art play in this? Could art perhaps open up spaces in time where we can pause, reconnect with ourselves, and simply be present? These are the questions we would like to explore together with you.
